Pavel Datsyuk to miss two to three weeks following knee surgery

DETROIT — Detroit Red Wings centre Pavel Datsyuk will be out of action for two to three weeks after he underwent arthroscopic surgery on his knee Tuesday.

Datsyuk hadn’t previously missed any games due to the injury.

“He said yesterday he could feel something not right in his knee,” Wings general manager Ken Holland said. “They took an MRI, saw a fragment. They went in today, surgery is over.

“It was minor arthroscopic surgery. Cleaned up his ligament and he should be ready to go in a couple of weeks.”

Holland said he hadn’t heard of any complaints from Datsyuk prior to Monday.

He added Datsyuk could have kept playing, but the team opted on the side of caution so that he’d be 100 per cent for the playoffs.

“The doctor said, after being in there, it was something that needed to be done,” Holland said…
