Report: Hawks Close To Deal With Bickell

(CBS/AP) — Bryan Bickell is sticking with Chicago.

The Blackhawks locked up the 27-year-old Bickell with a four-year deal worth $16 million on Sunday.

Though it appeared the team may have trouble resigning Bickell, the Blackhawks made shrewd salary-cap moves over the weekend to clear cap space.

Drafted by Chicago in 2004, wanted to remain with the Blackhawks and was open to giving the team a discount in order to stay.

“We have a great core of guys and we won two Cups in four years and there’s going to be many more to come,” he said after Chicago won the Stanley Cup Monday in Boston. “And I’m willing to do it because it’s fun and winning is fun.”
